Albums

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 as a result of the collaboration.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group The band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was well-received by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.
